Glitch Memorial Panel @ Wiscon 2013

Anyone planning on attending? I can't go to Wiscon this year myself, but I'd be interested in hearing about what gets discussed. Panel description1 behind the cut; [personal profile] ellen_fremedon will be one of the panelists.2 ETA: as will [personal profile] j00j!

Let's talk about the late, lamented MMORPG Glitch and other online multiplayer games. How can game mechanics (and moderation, etc) inspire and encourage cooperative behavior and a sense of community, encouraging players to be good citizens of the game world? How does the nature of the game and its goals influence who plays and how they behave? Are there games or game plots and mechanics that inspire altruism? Kindness? Selfishness? Cruelty? Finally, let's celebrate the wacky, whimsical world of Glitch.1

I can't go (WisCon is way outside of the BART train routes); I hope someone brings up Mage Faire Online, which should hopefully be in alpha by then.

I'm on the panel. I also suggested the panel. heh. I'll try to post some notes. Hopefully I can get someone in the audience to help.

We went for the alloted 75 minutes, then retired to the lobby and went for another 75 minutes, and probably could have kept going half the night had not other things called.

Lilith told Stoot about the panel and he sent his love to all of us. (Awwwwwwwwwww. Sob.)

There will be a linkfarm posted eventually by, umm, somebody. (I was also on the panel, though j00j was coordinating and is perhaps best-organized.)

Next year there should be a Glitch-themed party. (Anyone who knows dink-all about hosting big convention parties?)
