This is Zilloween, this is Zilloween, a holiday (which, for some reason, people tend to repeat) in honor of Zille. A time for costumes, seasonal foods, for gifting candy, and the only time when pumpkins can be grown and carved into lanterns: Zilloween Zilloween, Zilloween Zilloween!
Several nations of the region of Glitch are celebrating the holiday, frantically planting and harvesting pumpkins and wandering far from home to distribute candy to strangers. (Well, not so much actually doing these things, as writing dispatches about them. Nationstates.net is a text-based politics RPG.)
The Federation of Minkeyglitchvania proudly displays a holiday flag featuring Jack-the-Pumpkin and two glitchen, one nekkid as Friendly intended (but wearing a hard-hat because holidays can be a bit dangerous) and one in a chicken mask.
The Borderlands of PurpleJourney (that'd be me) has released a new recipe for pumpkin-based candy, which is hoped to be enjoyed by glitchen throughout the region. It is also hosting a Lantern Limerick contest, wherein the judges will walk, jump or swim past displays of five different lanterns each stating a different line from a short poem. Entrants will be judged on creative phrasing, arrangement of lanterns, and amount of Pumpkin Ale bribes.
The Rogue Nation of Folivoria, our esteemed WA delegate, hosts its own annual pumpkin festival and carving contest; its Zille-o-lanterns are in high demand as yard ornaments until the end of Zilloween turns them into pies.
The Commonwealth of Pennswald has announced the development of a Purple Pumpkin cider for the holiday. Authors of this dispatch will be back soon to finish the regional report, right after they test some of that cider.
